Or ask right here: free AI train enquiry chat

The same bot, on this page, as an online train enquiry with nothing to install. Type a train number or a PNR, or the whole question in any language you write in — it reads live railway data and says so when it cannot reach it.

On WhatsApp the conversation is saved, so it remembers your train next time.

Railway enquiry number: 139, or ask on WhatsApp

The official Indian Railways enquiry number is 139. It works by phone call and by SMS from any handset, needs no internet, and covers PNR enquiry, train running position, seat availability and fares. If you have no smartphone or no data, 139 is the number to use.

+91 78048 26903 is a different thing: TrainBot India's train enquiry number on WhatsApp. It is independent of the railway, free, and built for a question typed or spoken the way you would ask a person — train status, PNR status, seats, fares, the schedule and trains between two stations, in one chat, in any language you write in.

Ways in

Type it, say it, photograph it

  • Voice notes, Hindi or English

Speak naturally. The bot confirms what it heard before any railway lookup.

  • Photograph your ticket

Send a ticket photo. If it contains several numbers, choose the one you need.

  • Eight railway services

Check live journeys, bookings, routes, stations, seats and fares.

On the way

Everything TrainBot India can answer

  • Ask in your own words

Type the question the way you would ask a person. Two questions in one message are fine, and a follow-up in the same thread knows which train you meant.

  • Any language you write in

Write in any language and the reply comes back in the same language and script: Hindi, English or Hinglish, and just as readily Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia or Urdu. Ask for another language by name, French for instance, and the answer is written in that language. Voice notes are understood in Hindi and English, and the menu and its buttons stay in Hindi or English.

  • Voice notes

Send a voice note of up to a minute in Hindi or English. The bot repeats back what it heard before it looks anything up.

  • Ticket photo

Photograph the ticket instead of reading a number off it. If the picture holds more than one number, it asks which one you meant.

  • Live train status

Where the train was last reported, how many minutes late, the next station, and when the railway last updated it. Where the railway's feed names one, the expected platform at the next stop is shown too.

  • How it ran on previous days

Ask how late a train was yesterday, or on each of the last four days, and it fetches each day and shows them side by side. Four days is as far back as the railway answers.

  • PNR status

Send the ten-digit PNR and read the coach, the berth, the current booking status and whether the chart has been prepared.

  • Seat availability

Which classes have seats between two stations on a date, with the waitlist position where there are none.

  • Fare

The ticket price in each class for one train between two stations.

  • Train schedule

The full route of a train with every stop, arrival and departure, and the days it runs.

  • Trains between two stations

The direct trains from one place to another, by station name or code, for today or a date you give.

  • Trains from a station

What is arriving at or leaving a station in the next few hours, up to eight hours ahead.

  • Search a train by name

Part of a train's name is enough to get its number and route.

  • The classes a train carries

Whether a train has sleeper, AC three-tier, chair car and so on, as railway class codes.

  • Railway jargon, explained on this site

The guide, not the bot, explains what RLWL, GNWL, PQWL, TQWL, RAC and chart preparation mean, and when booking opens under the sixty-day rule.

Train enquiry and PNR status: questions people ask

  • What is the WhatsApp number for train status?

+91 78048 26903 is TrainBot India's WhatsApp number for train enquiries. Send a five-digit train number for live running status, a ten-digit PNR for your booking, or ask the question in Hindi or English. It is free, needs no app, and is independent of Indian Railways and IRCTC.

  • Is TrainBot India official, or connected to Indian Railways?

No. It is an independent service, not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Indian Railways, IRCTC or any rail operator or ticketing organisation. It reads from a third-party rail-data provider and passes the answer on, so it is only ever as current as that source.

  • Why not just use 139, or the railway's own number?

Use them. 139 is official, free, runs in twelve languages and works on a handset with no smartphone, no data and no app at all — for an elderly relative travelling alone it is usually the better answer. TrainBot covers what a menu-driven line does not: speaking the question as a voice note instead of typing a five-digit number, photographing a ticket instead of reading a number off it, and getting status, seats, fares, schedules and station departures out of one thread without starting again each time.

What to do when a saved WhatsApp number stops answering

  • Is it free?

Yes. No charge, no subscription and no paid tier. Your own mobile data is the only cost, and it is the same as any other WhatsApp chat.

  • Do I need a train enquiry app, or an account?

No. It runs inside WhatsApp, so there is no train enquiry app or PNR status app to download, no sign-up, no password and no update to keep on top of. The website chat works the same way in a browser, and can be saved to a phone's home screen if you want an icon for it. Booking a ticket is the act that genuinely needs an app and an account; checking one is not, and the two get bundled together far more often than they should.

Which railway app you actually need, if you are booking

  • Can it book a ticket, or do Tatkal for me?

No, and you should be wary of anything in a chat window that says it can. Reserved tickets are issued by IRCTC and its authorised partners, and nobody else is selling you a real one. TrainBot answers enquiries only — where a train is, what a booking says, what is available.

  • Is TrainBot India an AI chatbot, and what does the AI actually do?

Yes, a model reads your message. What it does is understand the question and choose which railway lookup answers it, then write the reply in your language. What it does not do is invent the answer: the train status, PNR, seats and fares all come from a live railway data feed, and the model is not allowed to make one up if the lookup returns nothing. It also cannot book, cancel or change a ticket, or watch a PNR and message you later.

  • Which languages does TrainBot India understand?

Any language you write in. Hindi, English and Hinglish are the common ones, and a question typed in Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia or Urdu is answered in that language and script. Ask for the answer in another language by naming it, for example "in French", and it is written in that language. Voice notes are understood in Hindi and English; the menu and its buttons stay in Hindi or English.

  • Can it explain what RLWL, GNWL or RAC on my ticket mean?

The guide on this site does; the bot's job is your specific train and booking. A PNR reply shows the code exactly as the railway wrote it, and what that code means for whether you will board, and which waitlists actually clear, is written up in the guide in plain language.

What the waitlist codes mean and which ones clear

  • Can I send a voice note in Hindi?

Yes, Hindi or English. Speak the question instead of typing it, and the bot repeats back what it heard before it looks anything up, so a misheard number is caught before it becomes a wrong answer. Replies come in Hindi too — अब मैं हिंदी में जवाब दूँगा।

  • Can I send a photo of my ticket?

Yes. Photograph the ticket rather than reading a number off it. If the picture contains more than one number, the bot asks which one you meant instead of guessing, because a confident wrong answer is worse than a question.

  • Do I have to send the train number again for every question?

No. Ask a follow-up in the same thread and it knows which train you meant, so the second question can be four words rather than a repeat of the first. It holds that thread for a few hours, and greets you by the train you were following the last time you wrote.

Every service, and how to ask a follow-up

  • How do I check PNR status on WhatsApp?

Send your ten-digit PNR to +91 78048 26903 on WhatsApp. The reply shows the coach, the berth, the current booking status and whether the chart has been prepared. No app, login or OTP is needed, and a photo of the ticket works as well as the typed number.

How to check PNR status on WhatsApp, step by step

  • How do I check if my train ticket is confirmed?

Send the ten-digit PNR printed on the ticket. The reply opens with the answer in plain words for every passenger on the booking — confirmed with coach and berth, RAC with the position, or waitlisted with the position — and says whether the chart has been prepared. Until the chart is prepared a waitlisted or RAC ticket can still move; after it, what you see is final.

  • How do I check my waiting list or RAC status?

The same way: send the PNR, and the reply shows where each passenger stands now, not only where they stood when the ticket was booked. A waiting list number falls as people ahead of you cancel, so it is worth checking again nearer the journey and once more after the chart is prepared, which is when it is settled.

GNWL, PQWL, RLWL and TQWL: which waiting list clears

  • Can it tell me the chances of my ticket getting confirmed?

No. TrainBot India does not predict confirmation chances or show a probability, because any such figure is an estimate built from how past trains cleared, not a fact about your ticket. It shows the current status of your PNR as the railway reports it. What genuinely changes the odds is the type of waiting list on the ticket, and the guide explains that in plain language.

  • Can I see which platform my train will come on?

Often, yes. A live train status reply shows the expected platform number at the stations ahead whenever the railway's feed includes one. Treat it as expected rather than final: platforms are changed at short notice, and the display board and the announcement at the station are what count on the day. Where the feed has no platform for a stop, the reply simply leaves it out.

  • PNR check karne ka sabse aasan tarika kya hai?

Ticket par likha das ank ka PNR number WhatsApp par TrainBot India ko bhej dijiye, ya ticket ki photo bhej dijiye. Jawab mein coach, berth, ticket confirm hai ya waiting mein, aur chart bana ya nahin, sab ek saath aa jata hai. Koi app ya login nahin chahiye, aur aap Hindi mein bolkar voice note bhi bhej sakte hain.

  • Is TrainBot India the same as IRCTC's AskDISHA chatbot?

No. AskDISHA is IRCTC's own official assistant, it lives on the IRCTC website and app, and it can book a ticket for you. TrainBot India is independent, runs on WhatsApp and on this website, needs no IRCTC login, and only answers enquiries such as train status, PNR status, seats and fares. If you are buying a ticket you want IRCTC; if you are checking one, either will do.

AskDISHA vs TrainBot India, compared in full

  • What is a PNR, and how is it different from a train number?

A PNR is ten digits and identifies your booking — who is travelling, in which coach and berth, and whether the ticket has cleared. A train number is five digits and identifies the service itself, which runs on every day it is scheduled and carries thousands of separate bookings. If the question is about your seat, you need the PNR; if it is about where the train has got to, you need the train number.

  • What does live train status actually tell me?

Where the train was most recently reported, how many minutes it is running late, which station it reaches next, and when that information was last updated. It relays the railway's own feed rather than observing the train independently, so a status that has not moved usually means nothing new has been reported — not that anything is broken.

Why live status sometimes shows the wrong train

  • What is chart preparation?

Chart preparation is the moment, some hours before departure, when the railway settles who is travelling and in which berth. Waitlisted tickets clear or do not clear at that point, confirmed berths stop moving, and the allocation becomes final. Anything you are told before the chart is prepared is provisional; after it, it is settled.

  • Which waitlist actually clears?

The letters in front of the number matter more than the number itself. A general waitlist draws on the largest pool of cancellations and moves most; a Tatkal waitlist moves least, because confirmed Tatkal tickets are non-refundable and so are hardly ever given up. A low number on a poor quota is regularly worse off than a high number on a good one.

  • Can it order food to my seat?

No. Food on a train goes through the railway's own e-catering service and the licensed vendors on it, not through an enquiry bot. It is worth knowing what you are allowed to carry aboard as well, which is a separate question people usually ask at the same time.

How to order food on a train, and what you may bring

  • What happens to my messages?

Reply DELETE at any time and your stored data and the message metadata linked to it are erased. Otherwise operational message metadata is kept for up to 90 days and error records for up to 30, and the deletion sweep runs every hour rather than on request. Phone numbers and PNRs are never written into logs, alerts or error records.
